DRAM Components

Solutions for any environment

Simms offer the UKs most comprehensive DRAM Component portfolio from Intelligent Memory and Kingston Technology. From legacy DDR to the latest DDR4 industrial temperature IC’s. Simms has a solution.

Small yet mighty

DRAM Components is a technology that brings a unique combination of features and capabilities to many design challenges, including handheld devices. DRAM Components cost-per-bit is higher when compared to equivalent standalone DRAM chips used as external memory, but the performance advantages of placing DRAM Components onto the same chip as the processor outweigh the cost disadvantages in many applications.

Versatile technology

DRAM Components are used in consumer products such as gaming consoles, smartphones, smart watches, VR items that require long battery life. Because it’s so small in size, DRAM Components are extremely lightweight. DRAM Components are heavily used in industrial markets, from telecommunications to medical, automotive to IoT and AIoT devices. Again due to its small foot print and wide operating temperatures, DRAM Components are perfect for remote applications or devices on the ‘edge’ of networks.

Core Product Solutions

DDR4 & LPDDR4

Compared to DDR3, DDR4 has much higher transfer rates and a lower voltage operation, ideal for a vast range of consumer and industrial technology.

With an operating temperature between -40˚C to +95˚C , DDR4 has a higher module density and lower voltage requirements compared to DDR3, as well as higher data transmission speeds. For the industrial market, DDR4 is widely adopted for many demanding applications and Intelligent Memory is ready to meet their requirements.

LPDDR4, or Low-Power Double Data Rate DRAMs, boast integrated ECC error-correction capabilities that operate over the industrial temperature range, and consume even less energy than its predecessors.

DRAM is available in both commercial and industrial temperatures.

DDR3

DDR3 is Double Data Rate SDRAM's third generation.

It reduces power consumption even further and represents a technology mostly used in today's PC architecture-based systems. Most Common capacities are 2Gb, 4Gb and 8Gb.

Embedded DDR3 is still widely used in industrial electronics. Some manufacturers have decided to discontinue this technology but Intelligent Memory and Kingston have continued to manufacture this tech for a thriving customer base.

DDR3 is suitable for IoT, robotics, factory automation, 5G networking/telecommunications, watches, VR, AR, health monitors, smart home equipment and smart city applications.

Available DRAM capacities include 1Gb, 2Gb, 4Gb, 8Gb and 16Gb available in both commercial and industrial temperatures. These components are the basis for ultra-high density DDR3 modules which support even the most demanding application settings.

DDR3 Embedded DRAM is available in both commercial and industrial temperatures.

DDR2

The DDR2 is the second generation of SDRAM technology.

It offers higher speeds and less power consumption due to its reduced supply voltage of 1.8V. Intelligent Memory offers specialized modules based on components with an embedded ECC functionality.  These modules turn a non-ECC module (64Bit wide data bus) into a device with the reliability of a typical ECC-module.

Available in capacities of 512Mb 1Gb and 2Gb in both commercial and industrial temperatures.

Related Product Series

DDR

DDR1 technology lives and operates in all areas of industrial technologies but is limited to only 512Mb density per chip.

Mainly found in legacy systems with a supply requirement. DDR is available in 256Mb, 512Mb and 1Gb capacities in both commercial and industrial temperatures.
